Stereo to Mono

I will eventually be building a DIY amplifier, probably built around the Corvette. However I require high fidelity mono sound and not stereo. If the source is RCA stereo jacks, or Line Level(?), how could this sound be converted to Mono? I have heard that there are sound quality issues that occur if you try to Y adapt 2 stereo channels to 1 Mono channel. Thanks

Just connect right and left channels together to make one line of your mono signal and use the ground as the second line of your mono signal.
