Corvette® (User Manual) is a high end pure class A DIY tube headphone amp kit designed for the highest quality music reproduction with the minimum distortion. An essential part of any good sounding headphones is the amplifier that is driving them. Corvette® is capable of driving a wide range of headphones and it will give you the best advantage in listening pleasure. The most immediately noticeable quality of Corvette is its silent background, nearly totally devoid of hiss. With a pair of matched Electro Harmonix 6922 tubes, the sound Corvette® produces is balanced, closer to neutral, with a quick bass. Bass lines are staccato, the mid lines are wonderfully transparent and nicely recorded vocals like Alison Krauss and Vienna Teng hung in midair clearly separated from the bass guitar, which in turn is perfectly separated from the guitar accompaniment. Highs are buttery smooth. There is never a feeling of harshness, fuzz, or artificial detail up top. That is not to say Corvette® is not detailed. Corvette® is detailed, it just presents details in a way that is very non-etched. Another way to describe this is that the detail never stands out and announces itself. Rather, the detail works to make a vocal or instrument seem more present in the room, and more focused.

Do not compare this tube amplifier to the ones made somewhere in Asia from counterfeit parts and using low voltage Wal-Mart switching power supplies. Corvette® uses only the finest audiophile quality components that have been carefully selected with no expense spared. Corvette® uses two 6922 tubes for their linearity and low distortion. (You also can roll in 6N1P or 6H23P tubes). The 6922 tubes are matched with an aid of Amplitrex tube tester and a computer. High quality Kemet, WIMA, Nichicon capacitors are used along with an audio grade ALPS volume potentiometer. Military grade Vishay/Dale metal film resistors used throughout the kit. A high quality built in dual bus power supply Doubloon® with ultra low noise characteristics delivers anode and filament voltages and a very generous amount of post and pre regulation smoothing capacitance provided by Nichicon and Kemet capacitors. The kit is assembled on a Canadian made printed circuit board that has thickness of 1.75 millimeters and 2 Oz copper traces. You have a choice of purchasing a transformless amplifier kit Corvette® or an amplifier kit Corvette that includes transformers (filament 182H9 and B+ 182D110). The transformers are manufactured in Waterloo, Canada and are designed for both 120V and 240V power arrangements.
