Doubloon is a high end DIY two bus power supply for the highest quality music reproduction with the minimum of distortion. (Doubloon power supply is incorporated in our Corvette headphone amplifier). The power supply built from this kit is capable of driving a wide range of headphone amplifiers and it will give you the best advantage in listening pleasure. Doubloon two bus power supply uses only the finest audiophile quality components that have been carefully selected with no expense spared. Military grade Vishay/Dale metal film resistors used throughout. High quality Kemet, WIMA, Nichicon capacitors are used along with IRF840 MOSFET transistor to stabilize and filter anode B-plus voltage and LD1084V low drop voltage regulator to stabilize and filter filament voltage. The power supply employs a very generous amount of post and pre regulation smoothing capacitance provided by Kemet and Nichicon capacitors. Doubloon two bus power supply also incorporates circuitry that provides a 15 second delay during which the B+ voltage is slowly increasing to its maximum value of about 310 Volt DC.
Doubloon power supply kit is designed for use with filament transformers that have AC output between 8 and 12 Volt AC (for example 182H9 and 182L12) and B+ transformers that have AC output between 200 and 220 Volt AC (for example 182D110 and 182E110).
